Contact Training – Wear Training Jerseys

Time/Session #: 5:00-6:30pm, Contact Session
Feedback: Learn what to do in contact area when they are lower than you, or laying on the ball
Objective: Focus on cleaning up breakdown
Principles: Gain Possession

5:00-5:15pm: Passing Warmup (5 people w/creative play) and Dynamic Warm Up

5:15-5:30pm
Activity: Contact Warmup – slap neighbor, wrestling, gauntlet, 2 v1

5:30-5:50pm
Activity: Body Roll Drill – square grid with cone in the middle, need 4 tackle dummies, and 4 hit shields
KFA 1) leverage w/body weight 2) eyes forward to make contact
Focus: accuracy in rotation
Progression: Body roll, body sack, clear out

5:50-6:15 Backs/Forwards Split
Activities: Catching high-balls in air w/partner, Focus on basic hands out, skip 2, ⅔ switch
KFA: 1) meet the ball in air 2) run hard line, then straighten up to draw defender and avoid drifting
Focus: Count quality reps
Progression: 3 quality reps, move on to next starter move
Forwards: Scrumming – w/opposition and phase play, introduce ideas for backrow plays – 8 to 9 to 14 (Blast), 8 to 7 (Slam)
KFA: 1) knee angle at 90% 2) core and chest strong
Progression: Focus on defensive scrum, drive call

6:15-6:25pm – Semi-opposed w/ RGBY/Flow
